Wow such stellar street cart food! The owners are originally from New York and that says it all. I remember bumping into similar bright yellow street cart food vendors in New York. The truck also features fresh juices. I suddenly felt as if I was transported back to the Big Apple. The cravings for chicken and rice with white sauce were accomplished at Gyro King! I'm waiting until the madness dies down at the new "Halal Guys" in Houston. But until then, this little joint is pretty good and they deliver some solid tasting food. It's all in the experience as well. Their are a few tables conveniently situated behind the food cart in which I sat and patiently waited for my hot food. When said food was delivered I opened the container and it was brimming with chicken and lamb (mix combo). The rice was killer! Perfectly cooked with an al dente texture. The cumin spiced rice was steaming and perfectly complimented the juicy meat. My favorite was the chicken among the two. The gyro meat was a bit salty for my liking. The white sauce was creamy and loaded with flavour. The crisp bite from the lettuce and cucumbers complimented the entire meal as well. I ate my heart out - and I usually can never finish my food! My mum ordered the fish over rice. It was also enjoyable and I liked how the fish wasn't salty and overly seasoned. This cart is NOT located in a sketchy area. It's situated at a Chevron gas station near the medical center. If you're still terrified of visiting a hole in the wall then just visit this place in the afternoon. I enjoyed my lunch here and happily ate it at the table behind the truck. It's located in the midst of a neighborhood and not anywhere random and empty. The owners were warm and welcoming. I'm looking forward to coming back to this place and continuing my ventures supporting local businesses.
