Sara's full firsthand review
Came in here on a very cold and windy Sunday night.. and the cafe was packed. I'd been wanting to try this place since the summer, so was finally content to try it recently. Came in here with the sisters to meet up with a good friend of ours and enjoyed our stay. Although there were many people already seated inside, we were still able to find ourselves a small table. It was nice and cozy inside without being too loud. We all ordered different beverages and enjoyed them. I had ordered a cafe latte with almond syrup. I enjoyed the fact that the almond flavored latte wasn't strikingly sweet. Nor did the drink taste too strong of almond, as those artificial type of beverages usually do. I can tell that the syrups in the beverages are of high quality. Overall, I enjoyed my cafe latte. It was smooth, silky, and foamy. My sister enjoyed her hibiscus tea which had a nice strong taste. It was flavourful with fruity and fragrant notes. I also ordered a brownie which had a nice home made taste to it. It was soft and cake like, which I didnt mind. The cocoa flavor was potent and the brownie wasn't too sweet either. Oh and last thing.. the service at Southside Espresso was great. We were greeted warmly by the kind and patient staff. We were also given glasses of water later on without being asked. I will definitely drop by next time i'm around the area. Looking forward to visiting on an afternoon day. I'm sure there are more pastries in stock in the afternoon as well.
